Cape Road

We're rebuilding the electricity network along Cape Road in Taranaki. Most of the existing network was built in the 1960s and after decades of service in coastal conditions, it's reaching the end of its working life. That's why we're replacing the assets in the area to improve the reliability and safety of your power supply and ensure that it can meet your energy needs well into the future.

What we'll be working on

Our contractors Downer will be replacing overhead poles, cross arms and lines, and upgrading transformers from the main road down to the coast. They'll be completing this work in two phases: 

• Late-June to late-July they'll replace 69 poles and upgrade transformers.
• August to September they'll replace all the lines.

What it means for you - planned outages

We'll be conducting a series of planned outages so our Downer crews can work safely. You'll find the dates and times below (please note, the outages noted in bold have been added as of Monday 4 July).

Alternate dates have been scheduled should weather conditions prevent work from happening on the planned date.   

Your property may not be affected by every outage. Your retailer will send you confirmation of each of the outages affecting you as we finalise them in our system. They'll also alert you if a planned outage is deferred to the alternate date.
