Funding towards a low carbon future - for business

The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) offers a range of co-funding opportunities aimed at supporting New Zealand’s transition to a low-emission and energy-efficient future. These initiatives are designed to help organisations adopt innovative technologies and practices that reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable energy use.

  • Technology Demonstration Fund 
    Co-funds projects that demonstrate new technologies aimed at reducing energy intensity or greenhouse gas emissions, with potential for replication across sectors. 

  • Low Emissions Heavy Vehicle Fund (LEHVF) 
    Provides grants covering up to 25% of the purchase price of new battery electric or hydrogen fuel cell electric heavy vehicles (5.9 tonnes GVM or more) or for converting existing diesel vehicles to low-emission alternatives.  

  • Feasibility studies and business cases 
    Co-funding of up to 40% for eligible feasibility studies to help organisations build strong business cases with rigorous assessment, investigation and analysis. 

  • Energy Transition Accelerator (ETA) 
    Offers co-funding for large energy-using organisations to assess opportunities for reducing emissions through energy efficiency and fuel switching. 

  • Energy audits 
    To support businesses and public sector organisations with the cost of hiring a qualified energy auditor to evaluate how energy is being used in your business/organisation.
