FAQs
When you complete a connection request, you’ll be asked whether you need the ICP to be livened.
- Select yes if you plan to start using electricity as soon as the connection is complete.
- Select no if you don’t intend to join a retailer or use electricity right away. You can choose to have the ICP livened later or leave this for a future property owner.
To get a quote, you need to go through the request process. This ensures we have all the necessary information to give you an accurate price.
Applying has several advantages:
- You get a confirmed price, not a rough estimate
- It saves time later by avoiding a separate request
- You’ll understand the full scope and terms of the work
- It prevents duplicated effort and confusion
To get a BTS, submit a new connection request using Powerco Connect. It’s likely your electrician will install the temporary supply box on your property and arrange for a contractor to connect it to our network. If the temporary supply box is positioned very close to the final location of the meter box on the house, the cable that connects the temporary supply to our network may also be used to connect the finished house to our network. This saves time and money when the house is built, and the temporary supply box is no longer required. To convert this connection to a permanent connection please complete a connection modification request.
You can request a permanent decommission via Powerco Connect - connection modification.
Contact your retailer (the company you pay your power bill to) to arrange a temporary disconnection (temporary isolation). If your disconnection is during business hours, it will be free. Your retailer will need at least 24 hours' notice.
To arrange a temporary disconnection (temporary isolation) to carry out electrical work use our temporary isolation form.
No. You may need to pay towards the cost of a network upgrade or to have Powerco equipment installed on your property to enable your connection. However, the equipment will still belong to Powerco.
